Makinde Approves Over 400 Percent Salary Increase For LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Cleaners
In a move that has continued to attract commendations from across Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a massive salary increase for cleaners working at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.
The affected workers, who are among the lowest cadre in the hospital's workforce, have now received a salary increment of over 400 percent, a gesture described by many as unprecedented and deeply compassionate.
The development, according to sources within the hospital, has brought great joy and relief to the beneficiaries who have for years struggled to cope with economic challenges on meagre earnings.
For many of them, the new wage represents not just an increase in income, but renewed hope, dignity of labour and a sense of belonging in the system.
Reacting to the news, a resident of Iwajowa Local Government, Bolarinwa Clement, expressed profound appreciation to the governor for prioritizing the welfare of the common man.
He said: "Tell me why I won't love GSM. It's only the enemies of progress that will hate him. This man deserves our prayers. God bless GSM."
Clement stressed that Governor Makinde has once again shown that true leadership is about lifting the vulnerable and ensuring that no worker is left behind, regardless of their position in the organizational structure.
According to him, while many leaders focus only on high-ranking officials, Makinde has consistently demonstrated empathy for low-income earners, market women, artisans and junior workers across the state.
Observers note that this latest intervention is in line with Makinde's long-standing commitment to workers' welfare, which has seen Oyo State become one of the states with consistent payment of salaries and improved working conditions.
For the beneficiaries at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, the increment will significantly improve their living standards and enable them to better cater for their families.
Many residents have since taken to various platforms to commend the governor, describing the move as a testament to people-oriented governance and a model worthy of emulation.
