Oyo State's political landscape recorded another major shift on Monday, September 21, 2026, when the Allied Peoples' Movement (APM) absorbed a fresh wave of defectors led by Hon. Ajiboye Akande Sangogade, widely known as Boye Nation, alongside scores of his followers.

The mass reception unfolded at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert, staged at the Open Tennis Court, Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, under the banner "Young, United and Unstoppable (YUU)."

Hon. Abiodun Oluwaseun Babalola, PhD — fondly called "Mr. Integrity" and the APM House of Assembly candidate for Ibadan North-East Constituency 01 — was among the party chieftains on ground to formally receive the new members. In his remarks, Babalola commended the defectors for their courage in aligning with a movement he described as the future of Oyo State politics, and praised Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde for building a party structure broad enough to accommodate diverse political interests.

He noted that Makinde's inclusive approach to leadership was steadily drawing credible politicians and grassroots movements alike into the APM fold.
Sangogade, an associate of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, was said to have pulled his camp out of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with reports indicating that his followers were drawn from multiple local government areas across the state.

Governor Makinde, who doubles as the APM's presidential candidate, personally received the new entrants, underscoring the significance the party attaches to the defection.

Monday's event drew a wide turnout of APM figures, including senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates, alongside government officials and other political stakeholders.The political proceedings were woven into an entertainment showcase featuring Fuji and contemporary acts, in keeping with the YUU platform's mix of youth mobilisation, culture and politics.

The latest defection adds to a growing list of political realignments sweeping Oyo State in the buildup to 2027, as the APM continues to expand its coalition ahead of the general elections.

With Makinde anchoring the party's national ambitions and Babalola representing its interests in Ibadan North-East Constituency 01, Monday's gathering reinforced the momentum building around the APM across the state.
