Oriire victims' release: Ibadan North-East chairman, Akintayo commends Governor Makinde, rejoices with Oyo residents
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo popularly called ( O Mu Yes) has commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on the successful release of the pupils and teachers abducted by gunmen from schools in Oriire Local Government Area.
Reacting to the official announcement by the Oyo State Government confirming the victims' release, Hon. Akintayo described the development as heartwarming and a great relief to the affected families, the people of Oriire Local Government and the entire residents of Oyo State, who had remained hopeful throughout the period of their captivity.
In a release signed by the Council’s Information Officer, Ikeoye Oyetoro, the Chairman noted that the successful release of the victims further reflects the Oyo State Government's commitment to safeguarding lives and property, as well as its determination to confront security challenges through responsible and sustainable measures.
Hon. Akintayo praised Governor Makinde for his steadfast leadership and resilience in the face of security challenges confronting the state. He also commended the gallantry and professionalism of the security agencies and appreciated everyone whose collective efforts contributed to the victims' freedom.
According to the Chairman, the development serves as a source of renewed hope and reinforces the importance of sustained collaboration among government, security agencies and the public in the collective fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities.
He urged residents of Oyo State to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information capable of preventing crime and enhancing the security of lives and property.
While rejoicing with the released pupils and teachers, their families, the people of Oriire Local Government and all residents of Oyo State, Hon. Akintayo prayed for God's healing upon the victims and expressed hope that they would quickly recover from the traumatic experience.
The Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of Ibadan North-East Local Government to supporting the security policies and programmes of the Oyo State Government aimed at sustaining peace, protecting lives and fostering a safe environment for all.
