The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government and Aare Akeweje Adini of Oyo State, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, popularly known as “O Mu Yes,” has felicitated Muslim faithful in Ibadan North East Local Government, Oyo State, and across the country on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448AH.

In a goodwill message released to mark the occasion, Hon. Akintayo described the Islamic New Year as a period of spiritual renewal, self-reflection, and rededication to the teachings of Islam, urging Muslims to draw inspiration from the noble lessons of the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The council chairman noted that the historic migration of the Holy Prophet symbolizes faith, perseverance, sacrifice, and unwavering trust in Allah, values he said are essential for fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development in society.

According to him, “The beginning of Hijrah 1448AH offers us another opportunity to reflect on our relationship with Allah and our responsibilities to humanity. It is a time to strengthen our faith, promote peaceful coexistence, and contribute positively to the growth and development of our communities.”

Hon. Akintayo called on residents of Ibadan North East Local Government to continue supporting efforts aimed at promoting peace, security, and socio-economic progress within the council area, stressing that collective commitment remains crucial to achieving meaningful development.

He further urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for the continued peace, stability, and prosperity of Oyo State and Nigeria, while extending love and kindness to one another irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

“As we celebrate the new Islamic year, let us embrace the virtues of patience, compassion, tolerance, and service to others. These values remain the foundation of a harmonious and progressive society,” he stated.

The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented programmes and projects that will improve the welfare of residents and accelerate grassroots development across Ibadan North East Local Government.

Hon. Akintayo prayed for Allah’s mercy, guidance, and abundant blessings upon all Muslim faithful and wished them a peaceful, prosperous, and spiritually rewarding Hijrah 1448AH celebration.
