2027: Agbajowo Movement Strengthens Political Footprint, Opens Strategic Talks with Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle DON

As political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general elections, the Agbajowo Movement is steadily positioning itself as one of the emerging grassroots mobilisation platforms in Oyo State, following a high-level engagement with representatives of Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

The strategic meeting, held in Ibadan, underscored the movement's growing involvement in issue-based political engagement and its determination to contribute meaningfully to democratic participation through structured voter mobilisation and stakeholder collaboration.

The engagement formed part of a broader consultation process being undertaken by the movement across the state. It also followed the successful hosting of its maiden Senatorial Candidates Engagement Forum, an initiative designed to encourage dialogue between political aspirants and the electorate on governance, representation and development-focused campaigns.

Addressing participants at the meeting, Oyo South Senatorial Coordinator of the movement, Ambassador Yusuff Gboyega Abdulafeez, said Agbajowo Movement remains committed to identifying and supporting leaders whose track records demonstrate a genuine commitment to public service.

He noted that Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle DON has continued to attract attention through various empowerment initiatives and constituency-focused programmes, particularly his decision to engage more than 40 Special Assistants across the federal constituency. According to him, such efforts reflect an approach to governance that prioritises inclusiveness and grassroots participation.

The position was further echoed by the movement's Local Government Coordinator, Hon. Stephen Tega, who described the lawmaker as one of the political figures whose activities have generated positive conversations among constituents.

Representing Hon. DON at the meeting were Hon. Oladapo Jossy (SLA), Hon. Afeez Alaro and Hon. Afolabi Ayodamope. The representatives applauded Agbajowo Movement for its growing organisational structure and increasing acceptance among youths, professionals and community stakeholders.

Discussions at the meeting also focused on areas where the movement could provide strategic support toward strengthening political engagement and voter participation ahead of future elections.

Among the initiatives proposed by the group are extensive ward-based mobilisation efforts, coordinated media and public communication strategies, as well as data-driven election support services aimed at improving outreach to eligible voters across the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the federal lawmaker, Hon. Afeez Alaro disclosed that Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle DON has expressed appreciation for the movement's interest and is open to a direct interaction with members of the organisation in the near future.

Political analysts view the development as a reflection of the increasing influence of civic and grassroots organisations in shaping electoral conversations in Oyo State. With political aspirants already seeking alliances capable of delivering effective voter engagement, groups such as Agbajowo Movement are becoming important stakeholders in the evolving political landscape.

The movement further revealed that consultations are ongoing with several aspirants seeking elective positions at the senatorial, federal and state legislative levels, signaling its intention to remain actively involved in promoting issue-based politics and citizen participation.

As the road to 2027 gradually unfolds, Agbajowo Movement appears determined to transform its growing network into a formidable platform for voter education, political mobilisation and democratic engagement across Oyo State.
