IBADAN NORTH EAST LG CHAIRMAN RESCUES STREET-BEGGING CHILDREN, REUNITES THEM WITH FAMILIES IN SABO

…2 Children Tragically Lost to Road Accident During the Period

The Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, popularly known as OMUYES, has successfully concluded a humanitarian operation to remove children found begging for money on the streets within the Ibadan North East Local Government Area, reuniting all recovered children with their families in Sabo.
The operation, which underscores Hon. Akintayo's zero-tolerance stance on child street-begging within his jurisdiction, saw local government officials identify, engage, and safely return the children to their families, restoring them to a safe and stable home environment.

Hon. Akintayo, while confirming the successful exercise, expressed deep satisfaction at the outcome, describing the initiative as a reflection of his administration's commitment to the welfare and protection of every child within Ibadan North East. He stressed that no child should be left to roam the streets begging for survival under his watch.

However, the exercise was not without grief. The Chairman sorrowfully disclosed that two of the children lost their lives in a road accident the previous week, casting a shadow of sadness over an otherwise successful humanitarian intervention. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased children, praying for the repose of their souls and the strength of their loved ones to bear the irreplaceable loss.

Hon. Akintayo used the occasion to call on parents, guardians, and community leaders across Ibadan North East to take responsibility for the protection and upbringing of children in their care, warning that sending children out to beg constitutes a grave danger to their lives and a violation of their fundamental rights.

He further assured residents that his administration would continue to pursue policies and programmes that promote the dignity, safety, and future of every child in the local government area.
