Ibadan South East Watch: Hon. Ogundeji’s Service Record Shapes Chairmanship Conversation

Honourable Ogundeji Tesilim Adekunle has been described as the ‘Man of Focus’ for the Ibadan South East Local Government seat ahead of the next political cycle, with stakeholders in Local Government citing his track record of service and grassroots connection.

A long-time player in Ibadan South East politics, Hon. Ogundeji’s public service record spans nearly two decades. He served as Special Assistant to the Chairman on Labour Matters from 2006 to 2007, where he was credited with mediating industrial relations and improving staff welfare within the local government system.

In 2010, he was appointed as a Caretaker Member of Ibadan South East Local Government, a role that exposed him to the core administrative and developmental challenges of the council.

He returned to the council as Secretary to the Local Government from 2020 to 2021, coordinating policy implementation and inter-departmental relations under the then administration. Since 2021, he has served as Vice Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, a position he holds till date.

Party faithful and community leaders in Ward 04, his political base, say his progression through key council offices has equipped him with institutional knowledge and practical experience to lead the local government.

“Hon. Ogundeji is not a stranger to the system. From labour matters to secretary and now vice chairman, he understands the workings of the council and the needs of our people. That is why we see him as the man of focus for Ibadan South East,” a community leader in Ward 04.

Supporters point to his accessibility, conflict-resolution skills, and familiarity with the council’s budgetary and administrative processes as key strengths. With political activities gradually building toward 2027, his name has continued to feature prominently in conversations around succession in Ibadan South East.
