The foremost socio-cultural group in Ibadan has thrown its weight behind the gubernatorial aspiration of Otunba Oluseye Opatoki, calling on His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde (FNSE), the Executive Governor of Oyo State, to consider and present the distinguished Ibadan-born philanthropist and PDP chieftain as the party's flagbearer in the 2027 governorship election.


In a press release made available to journalists on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the influential group described Otunba Opatoki as a man of immense pedigree, proven capacity, and deep-rooted commitment to the development and advancement of Oyo State — qualities they said position him as the most prepared and most deserving candidate to succeed Governor Makinde.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its Chairman, Ambassador Kazeem Adeshina, extolled the virtues and track record of Otunba Opatoki, affirming that the renowned philanthropist had paid his dues across all ramifications to the growth, welfare, and progress of Oyo State and its people.
"Otunba Oluseye Opatoki is not a newcomer to service.

He has given his time, his resources, and his passion to the development of this state for decades. He has touched lives, built bridges across communities, and remained a consistent and dependable voice for the Ibadan people.

We are fully behind him, and we call on our respected Governor, His Excellency Seyi Makinde, to look no further — the right man for the job is Otunba Opatoki," Ambassador Adeshina declared.

The group further noted that with the 2027 general elections fast approaching, the PDP in Oyo State must rally around a candidate of proven character, grassroots appeal, and statewide acceptance — attributes they unanimously agreed Otunba Opatoki embodies in full measure.


The group expressed confidence that under Otunba Opatoki's leadership, the legacy of Governor Makinde's developmental strides would not only be preserved but significantly expanded for the benefit of all Oyo State citizens.
