IBADAN NORTH-EAST LG DOMINATES AGAIN, EMERGES 1ST AND 2ND AT OMIDAN NULGE 2026
Ibadan North-East Local Government has once again reinforced its reputation for excellence, emerging as a standout performer at the 2026 Omidan NULGE Beauty & Brains Pageant, clinching the 1st and 2nd positions at the prestigious maiden edition of the competition.
In a release signed by the Council’s Information Officer, Ikeoye Oyetoro, The event, organized by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State Chapter, formed part of the grand activities marking the Swearing-In Ceremony of the newly elected executives across some local governments, alongside the International Women’s Day Celebration, held on Tuesday, 28th April, 2026.
With the theme “Give to Gain: Right, Justice, Action for All Women & Girls”, and the pageant sub-theme “Beauty & Brains”, the programme celebrated the strength, intelligence, and dynamism of women across local governments in Oyo State.
At the end of a highly competitive and intellectually engaging contest, Ibadan North-East representatives distinguished themselves remarkably:
Alade Favour Iyanuoluwa — 1st Position
Tijani Damilola Mercy — 2nd Position
Their outstanding performance further underscores Ibadan North-East Local Government’s consistency in producing confident, intelligent, and culturally aware young women, making the council a force to reckon with in both intellectual and cultural spheres.
Beyond physical elegance, contestants were rigorously assessed on their knowledge of Local Government administration, history, values, and individual talents—making the competition a true fusion of beauty and intellect.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Honourable Hakeem Ige, commended the organisers under the leadership of the State President, Comrade Ayobami Olusegun Adeogun, and the State Women Chairperson, Comrade (Mrs.) Atilola Kafayat, for introducing an initiative that showcases not only the beauty but also the intelligence, capacity, and talents of women across the local governments in Oyo State. He applauded all participants for their exceptional performances, noting that they are all worthy ambassadors of their respective councils.
Also speaking, the State President of NULGE, Comrade Ayobami Olusegun Adeogun, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders whose contributions ensured the success of the programme.
He described the pageant as a historic first of its kind while extending gratitude to all participating local governments and contestants for their enthusiasm and commitment.
In attendance were key officials from Ibadan North-East Local Government, including the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Omolara Aremu; the Director of Education and Social Services, Mrs. Fatunmbi C.O; the Deputy Director of Education and Social Services, Alhaji Hassan Shittu; Heads of various units, staff members of the department, and well-wishers from Ibadan North-East Local Government and Ibadan East LCDA.
This remarkable achievement marks yet another milestone for Ibadan North-East, affirming its place as a beacon of excellence and a consistent producer of outstanding talents. Indeed, it is one trophy after another—proof of a system that nurtures brilliance, confidence, and cultural pride.
