In a move described as a demonstration of grassroots empowerment and compassionate leadership, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government and Oyo State gubernatorial aspirant, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo ‘O MU YES’, has gifted a brand-new motorcycle to a commercial cyclist at Bode Wasinmi Okada Park in Ibadan.
The beneficiary, popularly known as Baba Jeje, expressed deep gratitude and excitement over the unexpected gesture, noting that commercial motorcycle riding remains his only source of livelihood. He described the donation as life-changing, pledging to make the best use of the opportunity to improve his economic condition.
Speaking at the brief presentation ceremony, the Chairman of the Okada Park commended Hon. Akintayo for his consistent support for transport workers in the area. He highlighted several initiatives by the council boss, including the distribution of free fuel tickets and traffic sensitisation programmes aimed at promoting safety and welfare among commercial riders.
Representing Hon. Akintayo at the event, his Personal Assistant, Hon. Jamiu, formally handed over the motorcycle to the beneficiary. He advised Baba Jeje to maintain good character, adhere strictly to traffic regulations, and use the motorcycle responsibly.
Hon. Jamiu also urged other cyclists in the park to remain steadfast in their support for Governor Seyi Makinde and Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo ‘O MU YES’, emphasizing the administration’s continued commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.
The event further reinforced Hon. Akintayo’s growing reputation as a people-oriented leader, particularly among artisans and transport workers across Ibadan North East Local Government.
