The build-up to the April 2026 elections of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ibadan North-East chapter, gathered momentum yesterday,Tuesday March 17, 2026, as the Aseyori Group officially flagged off its campaign in a vibrant and well-attended outing.
The strategically assembled nine-man team, led by Comrade Raji Afeez, the Chairmanship candidate, includes Akande Johnson (Vice Chairman), Monsurat Muhammed (Secretary), Makinde Akinpelu (Treasurer), Esther Akinbowale (Woman Leader), Kabir Adepoju (Auditor), Opeyemi Kamil (Assistant General Secretary), Ayobami Adeniran (Young Worker), and Ojo Olamide (Trustee). The team toured various departments within the Ibadan North-East Local Government Secretariat, engaging staff and soliciting their support as the union’s political activities commenced in earnest.
The campaign train later moved to the Multipurpose Hall of the Council, where a large number of supporters gathered in solidarity.
Speaking at the event, the Chairmanship Candidate, Comrade Afeez Raji, presented the abridged manifesto of the Aseyori Group, highlighting key plans aimed at promoting staff welfare, unity, and progressive development within the union.
He passionately appealed to members to entrust the team with their mandate in the April 2nd, 2026 elections.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, fondly called “O mu Yes,” urged all candidates and their supporters to shun politics of bitterness, avoid personal attacks, and focus on actions and ideas that will advance the collective interest of workers.
The Council Boss further encouraged all parties to conduct themselves responsibly and ensure that the election process reflects fairness, credibility and mutual respect.
Earlier, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) to the Council, Mrs. Omolara Aremu, advised all candidates and their supporters to maintain decency in their campaigns, avoid spread of false information and promote unity at all times, reminding everyone that despite political differences, NULGE remains one united family.
The event was graced by notable community and religious leaders from Ibadan North-East Local Government Area, further underscoring the significance of the occasion.
