HON. AKINTAYO TASKS ISLAMIC SCHOLARS ON BROADER OUTREACH, DONATES TO ARABIC SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION, CALLS ON TEACHERS TO EXTEND IMPACT BEYOND THE CLASSROOM AT ANNUAL RAMADAN LECTURE.

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, on Sunday, 9th March, 2026, graced the Annual Ramadan Lecture organised by the Association of Arabic and Islamic Schools, Oyo State — Ibadan North East Local Government Chapter. The event brought together Islamic scholars, Arabic school teachers, and community stakeholders within the local government.

Delivering his remarks at the lecture, Hon. Akintayo charged Islamic scholars and teachers to heighten their commitment and deepen the quality of their teaching, noting that the impact of their instruction extends far beyond the four walls of the classroom. He emphasised that every sermon delivered reaches not only enrolled students but also the wider public who listen from outside, underscoring the far-reaching responsibility that comes with their vocation.

The Executive Chairman further urged the scholars to direct their preaching and moral guidance towards miscreants and hoodlums in the society, pointing out that a significant number of those individuals bear Muslim names. He called on the religious community to see the rehabilitation of such persons as a shared spiritual and civic duty, stressing that Islamic teaching must be taken into the streets and neighbourhoods where it is needed most.

In a demonstration of his administration's commitment to Islamic education within the local government, Hon. Akintayo requested that the Association compile and submit the total number of Arabic schools operating in Ibadan North East Local Government Area, expressing his intention to extend his personal and institutional support to them. He subsequently made a generous cash donation to the Association, a gesture that was warmly received.

The Association commended Hon. Akintayo for his continued show of goodwill and commitment to the development of Islamic education in Ibadan North East. Members of the Association offered prayers for his good health, prosperity, and the continued progress of his administration.
