Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi, the Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Federal House of Representatives seat for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party.
He made this declaration on Friday after consulting with party leaders and members.
Fadeyi stated that his decision was a response to requests from constituents to extend his legislative duties beyond the state assembly for the benefit of the Egbeda/Ona-ara federal constituency.
Fadeyi emphasized that experience is crucial when duty calls, highlighting his extensive experience as Deputy Speaker of the House for two consecutive times.
According to him, this experience will enable him to foster development on the floor of the House at the green chamber for Egbeda/Ona-ara Federal Constituency.
He maintained that he stands out among other candidates for the position.
He said: “As a two-time lawmaker in the Oyo State House of Assembly, I am confident that I possess the necessary qualifications and experience to drive development in the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency. So, I am formally announcing my ambition to serve as your representative at the federal level. I believe in togetherness, we will promote development, empower our people, and ensure that the benefits of democracy reach every part of our constituency,”.
He added, "When duty calls, experience counts, especially at the national level, which requires a more experienced lawmaker to bring development to the constituency."
Following the official declaration, there's growing anticipation in Ona-Ara and Egbeda for his participation in the 2027 general elections, demonstrating Fadeyi’s increasing grassroots support and political influence.
PDP leaders, stakeholders, and members who spoke with our correspondent however confirmed that Fadeyi is recognized for his proactive leadership and his commitment to prioritizing federal support in key sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, and security if elected.
