Ibadan North East Councillors Suspend Nine Supervisory Councillors Over Illegal Removal of Electric Poles
The Legislative Arm of Ibadan North East Local Government has expressed strong disapproval over the controversial illegal removal of electric poles in parts of the council area, describing the act as “unwarranted and against the collective interest of the people.”
This follows several petitions and official complaints from Community Development Association (CDA) chairmen, who drew the attention of the councillors to the development and the negative impact it has generated among residents.
After an extensive deliberation at a plenary sitting, the councillors unanimously resolved to suspend nine supervisory councillors allegedly involved in the matter. The suspension, which takes effect immediately till further notice pending the conclusion of a thorough investigation.
Those affected by the resolution are:
1. Olansile Basiru Azeez – Supervisory Councillor for Security
2. Ibrahim Jinadu – Supervisory Councillor for Information
3. Bukola Amos – Supervisory Councillor for Youth and Sports
4. Dunni Williams – Supervisory Councillor for Women Affairs
5. Okunola Habeb – Supervisory Councillor for Culture
6. Ogboriefon Kabiru – Supervisory Councillor for Environment
7. Oyejide Busayo – Supervisory Councillor for Transportation
8. Fajenbola Kunle – Supervisory Councillor for Community Development
9. Onigbinde Taiwo – Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture
The suspension notice was duly signed by the following councillors:

Hon. Arulogun Abass – Majority Leader
Hon. Bayonle Hammed – Chief Whip
Hon. Saburi Hussein – Councillor representing Ward 01
Hon. Lekan Azeez – Councillor representing Ward 03
Hon. Saheed Makinde – Councillor representing Ward 04
Hon. Musa Akinyemi – Councillor representing Ward 10
Hon. Owolabi Lukman – Councillor representing Ward 11
The House stressed that while the investigation is ongoing, the suspension stands as a clear message that no act capable of undermining the welfare of Ibadan North East residents will be tolerated.
The councillors further assured the public of their commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of community interests, urging residents to remain calm as due process takes its full course.
