Hon. Akinloye Abiola Receives Bashorun Market Traders’ Support for APM Candidates as Traders Commend Akintayo’s Market Transformation
Traders at Bashorun Market, comprising men and women, have expressed support for candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), following the transformation of the market into a modern shopping complex.
The traders made their position known while commending the administration of Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, popularly known as “O Mu Yes,” for providing them with what they described as befitting shops through the redevelopment of the ancient Bashorun Market into an ultra-modern shopping complex.
The traders expressed appreciation for the improved market facilities, noting that the provision of suitable trading spaces would contribute to their business activities and create a more conducive environment for commerce.
Hon. Akinloye Abdulrazaq Abiola, the APM candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North-East Constituency 2, was associated with the engagement, during which the traders voiced their support for the party's candidates.
According to the traders, the market's transformation has given them reasons to appreciate the administration's intervention, pledging to demonstrate their gratitude through their participation in the forthcoming electoral process.
They further promised to mobilise support for APM candidates across the various elective positions, expressing their intention to translate their appreciation for the market project into votes for the party.
The development highlights the importance of market infrastructure and traders' welfare in political engagement, particularly as political parties and their candidates seek to connect with residents and business owners ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The traders' declaration of support comes amid ongoing political activities in Oyo State, with parties and aspirants intensifying engagements with community stakeholders and organised groups ahead of the next electoral cycle.
