NEW MONTH, NEW TALENTS: HON. BABALOLA ABIODUN, PhD. “INTEGRITY,” TAKES GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT TO THE NEXT LEVEL

As a new month begins, a new chapter is set to open for young football talents across Ibadan North East Local Government, as Hon. Babalola Abiodun, PhD. “Integrity,” continues to invest in initiatives that create opportunities for young people to discover, develop and showcase their potential. The Hon. Babalola Abiodun U-18 Football Competition is scheduled to kick off in mid-September, in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Ibadan North East Chapter, through its Grassroots Development Unit.

The competition is strictly designed for players under the age of 18, with a primary focus on talent discovery, player development and providing young footballers with the right platform to showcase their abilities. More than a contest for trophies, the initiative is aimed at identifying promising U-18 footballers across Ibadan North East and giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents before experienced coaches and grassroots football developers.

Through the competition, talented young players will have the opportunity to receive proper attention, assessment and guidance, with the long-term objective of developing footballers who can progress to represent Ibadan North East, Oyo State and, ultimately, Nigeria at higher levels. The initiative will also provide an avenue for coaches, football stakeholders and members of the community to identify promising players who might otherwise remain undiscovered.

The initiative comes at a time when grassroots football development continues to receive renewed attention in Oyo State. It underscores the importance of creating structured opportunities for young footballers to develop their skills, discipline and confidence from an early age. With the right support and guidance, today's young footballers from Ibadan North East can become tomorrow's stars of Oyo State, Nigeria and beyond.

Hon. Babalola's commitment goes beyond politics; it reflects a belief that youth development must include creating platforms where young people can discover their talents, build discipline and pursue meaningful careers through sport. The U-18 competition is therefore another step towards giving young people in Ibadan North East the opportunity to develop their abilities, gain valuable exposure and pursue their dreams in football.

As the competition kicks off in September, the focus remains simple: to discover talents, give them the right exposure and provide a platform where the next generation of footballers from Ibadan North East can begin their journey.
