C.C.I.I Set to Honour Hon. Gbenga Ayinde Adewusi ‘Arole’ as Icon of Ibadan Heritage
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (C.C.I.I) has concluded plans to confer a prestigious honour on Hon. Gbenga Ayinde Adewusi, popularly known as “Arole,” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to grassroots governance and community development.
According to an official statement made available to journalists, Hon. Adewusi will be decorated with the revered title of Icon of Ibadan Heritage at a grand ceremony scheduled to hold on April 16, 2026, at Omololu Olunloyo Park, Airport area, Ibadan.
The honour, the Council noted, is in acknowledgment of Adewusi’s remarkable performance during his tenure as Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, where he was widely commended for impactful leadership, infrastructural improvements, and people-oriented policies.
The Council also highlighted his meritorious service as Board Chairman of the Oyo State Sports Council, a role in which he demonstrated administrative excellence and contributed significantly to the growth and development of sports within the state.
Describing him as a worthy ambassador of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage, the C.C.I.I emphasized that the award is reserved for individuals who have distinguished themselves through integrity, service, and commitment to the progress of Ibadanland.
“The recognition of Hon. Gbenga Ayinde Adewusi ‘Arole’ reflects our continued commitment to celebrating sons and daughters of Ibadan who uphold the values, traditions, and developmental aspirations of our people,” the statement read.
The event is expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, stakeholders, and prominent sons and daughters of Ibadanland, as the city gathers to celebrate one of its distinguished figures.
Hon. Adewusi’s conferment as Icon of Ibadan Heritage further cements his legacy as a dedicated public servant and a proud custodian of Ibadan’s enduring legacy.
