The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has joined the First Lady of Oyo State, Her Excellency Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, to flag off the 2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign in Oyo State.

The advocacy event, held at Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu, Ibadan, brought together students, stakeholders, and government officials in a renewed effort to curb all forms of violence, especially among young people.

Addressing the students, Hon. Akintayo warned strongly against cultism, describing it as a destructive path capable of ruining promising futures. He urged them to be mindful of the company they keep and to remain focused on their education and personal development.

“Cultism is a dangerous lifestyle that does not only destroy reputations but can also lead to the end of one’s life,” Akintayo cautioned. He encouraged the students to choose their friends wisely and avoid negative influences that could derail their destinies.

The First Lady, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, reiterated the state’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups and promoting safer communities, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in the fight against gender-based violence.

The 2025 campaign continues across various institutions in the state as Oyo Government intensifies awareness and preventive interventions.
