Isese Day 2025: Hon Ibrahim Akintayo, Ibadan North East Executive Chairman, Felicitates Traditional Worshippers, Calls for Unity and Tolerance
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, popularly known as ‘O mu yes’, has joined millions of adherents of African Traditional Religion in celebrating this year’s Isese Day, held on Tuesday, August 20, 2025.
In his goodwill message, Hon. Akintayo congratulated traditional worshippers across Ibadanland and Oyo State, describing Isese Day as a festival that preserves cultural heritage and strengthens the bond between the people and their ancestors.
He urged practitioners of the traditional faith to continue worshipping their ancestors in unity and peace while promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for other religions.
According to him, “Isese Day is a reminder of our rich cultural identity. As a people, we must embrace unity and ensure that religious tolerance remains a guiding principle for sustainable peace and progress in our communities.”
The council boss also commended the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde for sustaining the recognition of Isese Day as a public holiday, noting that it further underscores the importance of inclusiveness and respect for all faiths in the state.
Hon. Akintayo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence among all religious groups within Ibadan North East Local Government, urging traditional worshippers to continue playing their role in upholding morality and fostering community development.
