Training of Mosquito Net Mobilizers Kicks Off Smoothly in Ibadan North East LG

In a bold step to combat malaria and promote healthier living conditions, the Ibadan North East Local Government has commenced a well-coordinated training programme for mosquito net mobilizers across six accredited centres within the local government.

The two-day training, which began on Monday, 7th July 2025, and runs through Tuesday, 8th July, is a vital component of a strategic health initiative aimed at enhancing the distribution and proper use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITNs) across all twelve wards in the local government.

The training is currently being conducted simultaneously at the following cluster centres:

Cluster 1 (Wards 1, 2 & 3): Ogboriefon Primary Health Centre – 96 participants

Cluster 2 (Wards 5 & 6): Alafara Aderogba Primary Health Centre – 64 participants

Cluster 3 (Wards 4 & 9): Lagelu Grammar School Hall – 172 participants

Cluster 4 (Wards 7, 8 & 10): Babasale Primary Health Centre – 186 participants

Cluster 5 (Ward 11): Ibadan North East PHC, Iwo Road – 86 participants

Cluster 6 (Ward 12): St. Cyprian Primary School, Padre – 90 participants

Mobilizers arrived at their respective centres as early as 8:30 a.m. for accreditation and were full of praise for the orderly and efficient organization of the exercise. Many expressed appreciation for the commitment of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, whose administration they credited for the smooth conduct of the programme and timely provision of materials and facilitators.

Several mobilizers also commended Hon. Ibrahim Jinadu, the Supervisory Councillor for Information, for his role in ensuring effective communication, mobilisation, and grassroots awareness.

This programme is designed to equip community mobilizers with the essential knowledge and communication tools needed to educate households on the importance of mosquito nets, thereby strengthening the local government's fight against malaria.

With this proactive effort, the Ibadan North East Local Government reaffirms its commitment to health and wellness at the grassroots level, continuing its legacy of progressive leadership and community-focused development.
