Mogaji Olasupo Joins Ibadan Traditional Council Delegation at Zonal Public Hearing on State Creation
As the nationwide conversation on state creation gains renewed attention, Mogaji Ibrahim Olasupo, the Mogaji of the Bada Family, Oke Offa Atipe in Ibadan, was honoured to be part of the Ibadan Traditional Council delegation that participated in the Zonal Public Hearing on State Creation held on Saturday, 19th July 2025 in Lagos State.
The hearing, which brought together stakeholders from across the South West geopolitical zone, served as a platform for various groups to present their cases for new states. While multiple proposals were discussed, the creation of Ibadan State remained the foremost priority for the Ibadan delegation.
Mogaji Olasupo, who also added his voice during the session, strongly emphasized the urgent need for the creation of Ibadan State, citing its historical significance, large population, and administrative capacity as compelling factors that justify its recognition as a standalone state.
During the event, Mogaji Olasupo had the privilege of exchanging pleasantries and engaging in a brief, insightful conversation with Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Governor of Ogun State, drawing from his wealth of political experience and regional influence.
Mogaji Olasupo also wishes to commend and acknowledge the unwavering commitment of Hon. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), a distinguished Member of the House of Representatives and his political principal, who has continued to champion the cause of Ibadan State at the National Assembly. Hon. Agboworin's leadership and advocacy remain instrumental in giving voice to the long-standing aspirations of the Ibadan people.
As efforts continue, the dream of Ibadan State is not just a political pursuit — it is a cultural and developmental necessity whose time has come.
