Akintayo Commissions First-Ever Local Government Operation Burst Office in Ibadan North East
In a bold stride to tackle security challenges within Ibadan North East Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, fondly called "O mu yes," has commissioned the first-ever Local Government Operation Burst Office in Adekile, a community historically plagued by security issues.
The commissioning ceremony, which drew high-profile dignitaries and service chiefs, was chaired by Oloye Nureni Akanbi (Arole Iba Oluyole), who hailed Akintayo as a “replica of Governor Seyi Makinde” for his grassroots commitment and security-focused leadership.
Oloye Akanbi commended the siting of the Operation Burst office in a strategic location known for its security concerns, describing the project as a timely intervention.
> “Hon. Akintayo is truly performing his constituents’ duties with excellence. This office will go a long way in curbing insecurity,” Akanbi stated.
Also speaking at the event, CP Odukoya (Rtd), Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, praised the chairman for the laudable initiative and encouraged residents to support the security team by cooperating with them.
> “This office is strategically positioned to tackle security challenges. I commend Hon. Akintayo and urge the people to utilize this structure meaningfully,” he noted.
CP Ayo Shonubi (Rtd), immediate past Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, also applauded the chairman's prioritization of safety and called on residents to provide intelligence support to aid the work of the security operatives.
Adding his voice, Colonel Oladipo (Rtd), Director General of Operation Burst, declared the project “a pace-setting model,” describing it as the first of its kind in any local government in Oyo State. He urged other chairmen across the state to emulate Akintayo’s proactive leadership.
Hon. Sola Owolabi, member representing Ibadan North East 2 in the Oyo State House of Assembly, and his counterpart from Ibadan North East 1, Hon. Abiodun Babalola, both praised Akintayo’s efforts, with Babalola pledging to support the newly commissioned office with solar-powered floodlights for illuminations and security.
On behalf of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Isiaka Fatokun Abuye, Chairman of the PDP in Ibadan North East, declared that Akintayo had made the party proud by delivering yet another impactful project to the grassroots.
In his own remarks, Hon. Akintayo expressed gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for his unwavering support and for giving him the opportunity to serve.
> “This project is inspired by the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde to make security a top priority in Oyo State. I dedicate this to his leadership,” Akintayo said.
Notable attendees included: All Oyo State service chiefs, Oloye Nureni Akanbi (Chairman of the occasion), Hon. Abiodun Babalola, PhD. & Hon. Sola Owolabi (Oyo Assembly Members), CP Odukoya (Rtd), CP Ayo Shonubi (Rtd), Chief Mrs. Tinuade Iyalaya (PDP South West Women Leader), Mogaji Wale Ladoja, Alhaji Akeem Oladeji, Hon. Raimi Baale, Hon. Yinka Bolarinwa, Hon. Abeeb Ogunremi, President Eze Ndigbo of Oyo State, PDP Executives and Ward Chairmen, Vice Chairman Hon. Mary Esomior, Secretary Hon. Femi Elegant, Legislative Council led by Hon. Abdulmajeed Igbalajobi, Local Government Staff led by Mrs. Aremu (HLA), and numerous party faithful from Adekile and its environs.
The event concluded with high optimism that the new Operation Burst base will significantly enhance safety and restore peace across Ibadan North East and adjoining areas.
