2023 DEMOCRACY DAY: IBADAN NORTH EAST LG CHAIRMAN, AKINTAYO URGES NIGERIANS TO SHUN POLITICS OF TRIBALISM.

As today marks the celebration of 2023 Democracy Day, The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon Ibrahim Akintayo aka (O mu Yes) has advised the good people of the Council and Nigerians to desist from politics of tribalism and any form of agitation that can destroy the unity of the Country.

The Chairman gave this advice while addressing the masses on this year celebration of Democracy Day which usually comes up on June 12 of every year.

According to the Council Boss, "the significance of June 12 Democracy Day cannot be underestimated as it is a reflection of what this Country has been through before Independence and the battle our founding fathers fought to gave us the freedom we are enjoying as a nation today"

Akintayo noted that, "the celebration is also to reflect and celebrate the late Bashorun MKO Abiola who Nigerians voted for massively in the year 1993 as the president of Nigeria but was denied the position as the election was annulled by General Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida, an election that was believed to be the freest and fairest in the history of our Nigeria".

The Council Boss stressed that as we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, we should not forget the efforts of our heroes that fought for our Independence and ensure that Nigerians remain united, secured, peaceful and indivisible saying a nation without harmony and oneness cannot achieve any meaningful development.

The Chairman congratulated Nigerians on this occasion and urged all citizens of Nigeria home and abroad to continue to support the present administration both at the federal and state level in a bid to have a developed and productive nation.

Akintayo also admonished Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on how far the Country has come and the challenges we have faced and overcome as a nation, saying any form of agitation that threatens the unity of the country should be shunned completely for the betterment of this Country and for the good of all.

The Council Chairman therefore admonishes all citizens to genuinely love their fellow men and embrace the spirit of unity, adding that with the various strategies put in place by the President Bola Ahmec Tinubu-led Administration to stabilise the economy and make lives comfortable for Nigerians, the nation will continue to get better.

Akintayo enjoins Nigerians to have faith in this nation's democracy and do everything in their power to always promote the interest and image of this Country in a positive way saying Nigeria will be better and great if we all put in efforts to make it a better place and shun every act of corruption that can destroy the progress of this nation.

The Chairman therefore wishes all good people of Ibadan North East Local Government, Oyo State and Nigerians as a whole Happy Democracy Day Celebration.
