Oyo lawmakers call for active participation in nation-building during church service in Ibadan

Ibadan, Oyo State

Nigerians, particularly youths, have been urged to participate actively in politics and contribute to national development during a church service held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Maranatha Chapel, Abayomi, Iwo Road, Ibadan.

The call was made by a three-man delegation of the Oyo State House of Assembly comprising Hon. Shola Owolabi, representing Ibadan North-East Constituency 2; Hon. Babajide Adebayo, representing Ibadan North Constituency 2; and Hon. Abiodun Babalola, PhD, popularly known as “Mr Integrity,” representing Ibadan North-East Constituency 1. The lawmakers attended the service to deliver a goodwill message on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin.

In his address, Babalola commended Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for providing opportunities for young leaders to participate in politics and praised the administration’s developmental projects across Oyo State. He urged youths not to lose faith in the possibility of a greater Nigeria, encouraging them to take proactive steps towards leadership regardless of their status, creed or religion. He also called on the electorate to support the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in the forthcoming election.

Similarly, Owolabi stressed the need for collective efforts by leaders and citizens to lay a solid foundation for development that would benefit future generations. Adebayo, in his remarks, expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, noting that sincere leadership and committed followership were essential to the nation’s progress. He also called for continuity in the developmental strides of Governor Makinde’s administration.

Earlier in his sermon, Bishop Samuel Alawode charged the congregation on the importance of sowing seeds for a bountiful harvest, drawing from Galatians 6:7. Prayers were subsequently offered for the peace and progress of Oyo State and Nigeria.

Also in attendance was Hon. Abiola Akinloye, the APM candidate for Ibadan North-East Constituency 2 in the forthcoming election.
