OYO LAWMAKER, "MR. INTEGRITY" HON. ENGR. ABIODUN BABALOLA PhD, HAILS APM'S BAUCHI LANDSLIDE, VOWS SAME FEAT FOR OYO STATE IN 2027
Ibadan, Oyo State — August 18, 2026.
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has recorded a historic sweep in Bauchi State's local government elections, clinching all 20 chairmanship seats and 319 of 323 councillorship seats, in results announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) on Monday night.
The landslide, described by political observers as one of the most decisive local government outcomes in recent memory, has sent ripples across APM structures nationwide — including here in Oyo State, where the party's candidates for the 2027 general elections are intensifying grassroots mobilization ahead of next year's polls.
Reacting to the development, Hon. Engr. Abiodun Babalola PhD, "Mr. Integrity," member representing Ibadan North East Constituency 01 in the Oyo State House of Assembly and APM candidate for the same seat in 2027, described the outcome as a clear signal of the party's rising acceptability nationwide.
Speaking as an experienced administrator — having served as Sole Administrator of Ibadan East Local Government Development Area and presently as a seasoned legislator in the Oyo State House of Assembly — Babalola said the Bauchi result validates the values his political journey has been built on.
"I congratulate our party leadership and the entire APM family in Bauchi State on this resounding victory. Having served the good people of Ibadan East as Sole Administrator and now as their representative in the Oyo State House of Assembly, I understand what it means to lead with integrity and deliver real service.
This Bauchi landslide is a demonstration that Nigerians, from the North to the South, are ready to embrace a party anchored on integrity, competence and genuine commitment to the people. As we head into 2027, I assure the good people of Ibadan North East Constituency 01 and indeed all of Oyo State that APM is ready to replicate this same feat here," Babalola said.
BASIEC Chairperson Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar declared the Bauchi results after what the commission described as a full process of voting, counting, collation and verification across the state. Four councillorship wards went to other parties — the SDP, NRM, ZLP and YPP — while APM swept the remainder.
As APM structures in Oyo State prepare for the 2027 general election cycle, party stakeholders say the Bauchi result offers fresh momentum for ongoing campaigns across Ibadan North East and the entire state.
